Dronacharya Bhupender Dhawan’s Disciples Surender and Gurdit Win 7 Gold Medals in German Powerlifting Championship

New Delhi: In an epic moment, Surender Singh and Gurdit Singh, both students of Dronacharya awardee coach Mr. Bhupender Dhawan created history by winning 7 Gold Medals for India in the German Powerlifting Championship held at Bitburg, Germany from 1st to 3rd May 2026.
Surender Singh claimed 1 Gold in the Masters Benchpress, 1 Gold in the Open Benchpress, 1 Gold in the Masters Deadlift, 1 Gold in the Open Deadlift.
Gurdit claimed 1 Gold medal in the Full Power Lifting Junior Category Deadlift of 290 KG, Benchpress 160 KG, Squats 250 KG, with a total of 700 KG, 1 Gold medal in single Bench Press lifting 162.5 KG, and 1 Gold in single Deadlift 285 KG.
Coach Bhupender Dhawan said, ” Dronacharya The Gym’ has completed 37 years. Two generations, still winning for India, 4 Gold from one of my oldest student Surender Singh, 3 Gold from my youngest international athlete Gurdit Singh. Proud of the legacy we have built. This was a best birthday gift I could ask for. “
IPL India President, Mr. Om Prakash Angrish, congratulated the Indian Team Coach Dronacharya Mr. Bhupender Dhawan, Surender Singh and Gurdit Singh and wished them all the best for their future endeavors.
