Jaipur, July 24: Rajasthan has once again strengthened its position on the global tourism map. In the prestigious Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2026, the state’s iconic cities Udaipur and Jaipur have been recognized among both the World’s Best Cities and Asia’s Best Cities. The achievement reflects not only the popularity of these two destinations but also Rajasthan’s rich cultural heritage, historical legacy, exceptional hospitality, and growing global appeal as a premier tourism destination.

In the global rankings, Udaipur secured the 12th position, while Jaipur ranked 16th among the world’s best cities. In the list of Asia’s Top 15 Cities, Udaipur was placed 8th and Jaipur 10th. Having two cities from the same state featured simultaneously in both prestigious rankings is considered a remarkable accomplishment.

Global Recognition Set to Strengthen Rajasthan’s Tourism Economy

Tourism experts believe that such international recognition goes far beyond prestige. It significantly enhances a destination’s global credibility, attracting more international visitors, increasing tourism investments, and creating new opportunities across the hospitality, handicrafts, transport, retail, and employment sectors.

Already one of India’s leading tourism destinations, Rajasthan is expected to witness stronger demand from both international travelers and high-value domestic tourists following this recognition.

Major Success for the State’s Tourism Strategy

Tourism Commissioner Rukmani Riyar described the recognition as a proud moment for the entire state, attributing the achievement to Rajasthan’s rich heritage, vibrant culture, world-class hospitality, and the collective efforts of everyone associated with the tourism industry.

She said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, the state government has been consistently working to further strengthen Rajasthan’s presence on the global tourism map. She expressed confidence that the recognition would enhance Rajasthan’s international image while generating fresh investment and employment opportunities in the tourism sector.
