In July 2026, IPL and Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) signed an agreement to promote scientific and sustainable sugarcane farming in Gujarat. Under the initiative, work will include the survey, design, supply and installation of drip irrigation systems, along with farmer training and field demonstrations.

The two organisations will promote better water use, fertigation and precision input management. Since sugarcane requires a large amount of water, drip irrigation can help farmers manage water and farming costs more efficiently.

AI Helping in Weather and Pest Management

The use of AI in agriculture is growing rapidly in areas such as weather forecasting, pest and disease identification, irrigation management and crop monitoring. Farmers can also use mobile technology to take pictures of pests in their fields and receive information about their identification and control.

If such technologies are linked with IPL’s farmer training and field programmes, farmers can receive more accurate and timely information to make better farming decisions.

Support for the Rural Economy

IPL’s activities are not limited to fertilizers and agricultural technology. The company has also expanded its work in the sugar industry and has taken steps towards the revival of closed cooperative sugar mills. The revival of the Badamba Cooperative Sugar Mill in Odisha is one such example.
