AGE NO BARRIER: TODDLERS TO VETERANS SHINE AT DELHI OPEN AQUATICS
New Delhi: The prestigious Delhi Open Talent Search Swimming Competition 2026 concluded in spectacular fashion at the iconic Dr. SPM Swimming Pool Complex, bringing together an extraordinary mix of young talent and seasoned swimmers. Reaffirming its reputation as one of India’s largest one-day swimming championships, the event turned the national capital into a vibrant hub of speed, endurance and sporting passion.
The high-energy championship witnessed the participation of more than 700 aquatic athletes, accounting for 1,200 entries, representing 300 premier institutions across nine Indian states and three international countries.
In an impressive display of event management, the organizers successfully conducted 120 events across 184 races in a continuous, single-day swimming marathon.
True to its core philosophy of sports for all, the competition featured swimmers across an extraordinary eight-decade age span. The lanes welcomed everyone from four-year-old budding prodigies to inspirational 82-year-old Masters swimmers, demonstrating that passion for swimming has no age limit.
The morning proceedings were inaugurated by Mr. Mohinder Singh, former DIG, CRPF, while Dr. Supratic Gupta, Professor, IIT Delhi, presided over the valedictory ceremony.
The event also witnessed the presence of several prominent personalities from the sporting fraternity, including open-water swimming legend Dr. Meenakshi Pahuja, Mr. Dilip, Administrator, Dr. SPM Complex, Mr. Sanjay Bisht, former Administrator, Dr. SPM Complex, and Mr. Harish Tokas.
The championship was conducted under the visionary leadership of former international swimmer Mr. Raja Ram Tokas.
Highlighting the national significance of the championship, Dr. Jitender Tokas, Organising Secretary, said:
“This is a unique movement in Indian swimming where age is no barrier. From a toddler taking their first competitive splash to veteran Masters swimmers pushing their limits, every athlete receives equal recognition. That unifying energy defines our legacy.”
The championship received strong support from leading corporate and institutional partners, including co-sponsor Policy Bazaar, Supratic Trust, ESC Medicams, Vendihalt and AA.
