Historic Abu Dhabi T10 Season Concludes with Deccan Gladiators’ Triumph, Featuring 140 International Stars

Abu Dhabi : The 2024 Abu Dhabi T10 League concluded on December 2 with the Deccan Gladiators clinching the championship. In the final, the Gladiators secured a commanding eight-wicket victory over the Morrisville Samp Army.

The tournament’s eighth season saw unprecedented popularity, with global cricketing icons like Jos Buttler, Nicholas Pooran, Trent Boult, and Kieron Pollard dazzling fans. Cricket enthusiasts worldwide enjoyed the shortest format through extensive global broadcasting.

The Gladiators emerged as the most successful team in the league’s history, securing their record third title. Several of their players bagged top honors, including their star batsman and English captain Jos Buttler, who amassed 242 runs at a blistering strike rate of 224.07 to claim the Player of the Tournament award.

Opening batsman Tom Kohler-Cadmore was named the tournament’s Best Batsman for his 222 runs, while Richard Gleeson earned the Best Bowler award for his 14 wickets at an economy rate of 10.07. UAE’s local star Shahid Bhutta, who picked up 10 wickets with an economy of 10.93, was honored as the UAE Player of the Tournament.

This season featured the largest pool of teams in the tournament’s history, with the addition of two new franchises—UP Nawabs and Ajman Bolts. It also witnessed a historic milestone as Sherfane Rutherford scored the league’s first-ever century, smashing an unbeaten 103 off 40 balls against the Northern Warriors.

With collaborations from global broadcasters, the tournament reached audiences in numerous countries, including a two-year deal with Disney Star to broadcast in English, Hindi, and regional languages for Indian viewers.

The 2024 edition marked the highest international participation in the league’s history, with nearly 140 players from various countries showcasing their skills. UAE cricketer Rohan Mustafa, the first local player to lead an Abu Dhabi franchise, shared his pride:
“Undoubtedly, T10 is a premier tournament, excellently managed by the organizers. I have been part of it since its inception, and it’s the first league to actively involve UAE’s local players. Such action-packed tournaments inspire youth to become more passionate about cricket.”

At the closing ceremony, T10 Global Chairman Shaji Ul Malik remarked:
“The tournament has concluded with the largest pool of international players for the first time. Over 12 days of power-packed action, 140 international stars showcased their talent across 40 matches, demonstrating exceptional cricketing skills that thrilled fans worldwide.”
