Flipkart’s Unique Initiative to Empower “Lakhpati Didis” in Goa
Panaji ( Goa) The Goa State Rural Livelihood Mission (GSRLM) has partnered with India’s leading e-commerce platform, Flipkart, to transform the lives of women entrepreneurs from self-help groups (SHGs) in Goa. Through this collaboration, products crafted by these talented women will be showcased and sold on Flipkart’s online marketplace. A workshop to kick off this initiative was held on Tuesday.
Speaking at the event, Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant highlighted the alignment of this initiative with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India. He emphasized the importance of training programs like this in achieving the goal of empowering “Lakhpati Didis.” Dr. Sawant praised Flipkart for its efforts, noting that the training provided to women from Goa’s SHGs will empower them and enable them to contribute significantly to India’s development. He further stated that the products crafted by these women can reach global markets with the help of Flipkart’s team and expertise.

Rajnish Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of Flipkart, reiterated the company’s commitment to providing access to global markets through its platform. He mentioned that Flipkart is continuously working to ensure that the products of every entrepreneur in India reach the marketplace. Highlighting the company’s collaboration with the National Rural Livelihood Mission and its initiatives to empower artisans and craftsmen, he stated that Flipkart is extending these efforts through digital platforms. “We firmly believe that workshops like this facilitate the journey of these women entrepreneurs in realizing their full potential. This enables them to present their diverse range of products to customers across India,” he added.
During the event, GSRLM’s Project Director, Gopal A. Parsekar, elaborated on the schemes designed for women SHGs in Goa. The training session, conducted by Flipkart’s team, also provided an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to share their experiences and success stories.
