11th Padma Shri Shyam Lal Memorial Invitational Hockey Tournament: Shyam Lal College Wins Men’s Trophy

New Delhi: Host Shyam Lal College clinched the men’s title in the 11th Padma Shri Shyam Lal Memorial Invitational Hockey Tournament with a commanding 7-2 victory over Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences in the one-sided final match.

On Monday, at the Shyam Lal College ground, Ashish and Mohit scored two goals each, while Praveen, Deepak, and Pratyush Singh Jaggi netted one goal each for the winning team.
For the runner-up team, Naveen Rathi and Sumit managed to score one goal each.

Manmohan from Shyam Lal College was awarded the Player of the Match, while Praveen from Shyam Lal College received the Player of the Tournament award.

The closing ceremony was graced by the chief guest, BJP leader and Rohtas Nagar MLA Shri Jitendra Mahajan, along with Shyam Lal College Principal Dr. Rabi Narayan Kar, Prof. Sarita Tyagi (HOD, Physical Education, DU), Dr. Sushil Kumar (Assistant Director, DUSC), Dr. Jamal Anono Khan (Immunotherapist), and Prof. Narendra (Principal, Zakir Husain College), who felicitated the players.

V.S. Jaggi, the convener of the college’s sports committee, expressed gratitude to all the guests.

Shri Jitendra Mahajan remarked, “I am delighted to be an alumnus of this college, and it is heartening to see hockey being promoted so actively here. It is also commendable that our girls participated in this tournament with great enthusiasm. Congratulations to the college!”
