BJP Targets K Raju Over His ‘Sleeper Cell in Jharkhand Congress’ Remark
Ranchi (Jharkhand): BJP state spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo has strongly criticized Congress’s Jharkhand in-charge K Raju over his recent statement about BJP sleeper cells within the Jharkhand Congress. Pratul stated that by making such a claim, K Raju has put the entire Jharkhand Congress under suspicion, leading to internal distrust among party workers.
On Tuesday, Pratul demanded that K Raju clarify who exactly in Congress is a BJP sleeper cell. He questioned whether it was the state president, one of the ministers, MLAs, office bearers, or other leaders. “By making such a statement, Raju has cast doubts on the loyalty of thousands of Congress workers who have dedicated themselves to the party for decades,” Pratul said.
He further lamented that not a single Congress leader has opposed Raju’s statement, highlighting the absence of internal democracy in the party. “There was a time when internal democracy was alive in Congress, but now, party workers don’t even dare to oppose their senior leaders’ wrongful statements,” he remarked.
Pratul also compared K Raju’s statement to Rahul Gandhi’s similar claim in Gujarat, where Rahul had accused Gujarat Congress of harboring BJP sleeper cells. However, in Gujarat, several Congress leaders strongly opposed the remark. He pointed out that the Congress, which has been out of power in Gujarat for three decades, is now blaming its own workers for its failures.
Highlighting an ironic aspect of the issue, Pratul said, “Congress has twice won elections in Jharkhand by riding on the back of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), yet its in-charge sees BJP sleeper cells within its own ranks.” He warned that if K Raju fails to publicly reveal the names of these alleged sleeper cells, the credibility of the entire Jharkhand Congress will remain in question forever.
