‘BJP’s ₹2,500 Promise Turns Out to Be a Gimmick,’ Atishi Targets Delhi Government
New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Atishi, on Wednesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing them of failing to fulfill promises made to the women of Delhi, including financial aid of ₹2,500 and free LPG cylinders. She claimed that BJP and PM Modi had made multiple commitments, but the ₹2,500 assistance turned out to be a mere ‘jumla’ (gimmick). Women in Delhi were supposed to receive free LPG cylinders during Holi, but that promise remains unfulfilled.
Atishi further stated that with just two days left for Holi, Delhi’s women are still waiting for the free LPG cylinders. Across various parts of Delhi, women are protesting with empty cylinders, calling out BJP for its false promises. During the Delhi Assembly elections, BJP, in its manifesto, had promised to provide ₹2,500 per month to women under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. The party had also pledged to support low-income families by offering LPG cylinders at ₹500.

Additionally, BJP had assured one free LPG cylinder each during Holi and Diwali. On March 8, Delhi’s Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that the BJP-led government in Delhi would fulfill all its promises. Addressing an event on International Women’s Day, she assured that her government was committed to the welfare and safety of women.
Meanwhile, AAP MLA Gopal Rai took a dig at the BJP government in Delhi, accusing it of engaging in blame games instead of fulfilling its electoral promises.
