Khalsa College Wins PSPB Baba Deep Singh Men’s Hockey Title

New Delhi: The host Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College defeated Shyam Lal College 3-2 in the penalty shootout to win the men’s category title of PSPB 4th Baba Deep Singh Hockey Tournament.
The title of women’s category was won by Delhi University Alumina. In the final they defeated Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences 4-3.

In a exciting struggle the final match between Shyam Lal College and Khalsa College was locked 2–2 till the end of regulation time. This was followed by a penalty shootout in which Khalsa College won 3-2. Mohit, Pawan, Ankit scored goals from Khalsa College and Jitesh and Naveen Bidhuri scored for Shyam Lal College. The player of the match award of the final was given to Khalsa college player Danish Ansari.
Tournament’s Best Goalkeeper award was received by Rishabh of Khalsa College. Best Full Back award was given to Harsh Tewatiya of Khalsa College. Best Mid Fielder award given to Naveen Bidhuri of Shyam Lal College. Sagar of Hansraj College got the award of of Best Forward. Most Valuable Player Award was given to Priyanshu of Shyam Lal College
The award distribution was done by Chief Guest Miss Ranjit Gill, Director Hockey India, Indian Hockey Player Harjit Singh, Gautam Vadhera, Joint Secretary Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, Professor Gurmohinder Singh, Principal, SGTB Khalsa College and Director of Physical Education and Sports Ms Inderpreet Kaur Nanda.

In the women’s category, Delhi University Alumina defeated Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences 4-3. Vidhi Koli scored 2 goals for the winning team Delhi University Alumina and Sonika and Sonali scored one goal each. Pinky, Somwati and Kanchan scored one goal each from Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Sciences team. Player of the Match award was received by Vidhi Koli of Delhi University Alumina. Sheetal Sharma of the winning team got the Best Goalkeeper award, Manita got the Best Defender award, Sonali received the Best Mid Fielder award and Somvati of Indira Gandhi Institute got Best Forward award and Kanchan got Most Valuable Player award.
