“CemHack for Green Infra” Hackathon Launched – A Boost to Innovation in Cement and Construction Sector

New Delhi: The Cement and Construction Materials Council (NCB) launched its first-ever national-level hackathon, “CemHack for Green Infra”, on May 20, 2025, at Ballabhgarh, marking the first anniversary of its Incubation Centre. The event was inaugurated by Mr. Sanjeev, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.The hackathon aims to encourage green technology solutions and support startups and research talent in the cement and construction sectors, while fostering entrepreneurial innovation.During the launch, Mr. Sanjeev praised the achievements of the NCB Incubation Centre and urged leading institutions like IITs, NITs, and technical universities to participate. He expressed confidence that the hackathon would lead to the emergence of promising startup success stories. Dr. Kapil Kukreja, GM and In-Charge of NCB-IC, shared that the hackathon is being held in two categories—one for startups, professionals, and individuals, and the other for students and academia. Participation is free of cost.

NCB DG Dr. L.P. Singh highlighted the initiative’s importance for sustainability and announced a CCU Centre of Excellence in collaboration with IIT Roorkee and JK Cement Ltd. Key themes include green cement, green concrete, carbon capture and storage, sustainable logistics, and achieving net-zero targets.
