Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Chair 25th Meeting of Central Zonal Council in Varanasi
Varanasi: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah will chair the 25th meeting of the Central Zonal Council on June 24, 2025, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The meeting will witness participation from the Chief Ministers and two senior ministers from each of the member states—Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand—along with Chief Secretaries and senior officials of both the central and state governments.
Organised by the Inter-State Council Secretariat under the Ministry of Home Affairs, in collaboration with the Government of Uttar Pradesh, the Council serves as a vital platform for dialogue and cooperation between states and the Centre on issues of mutual interest.
Established under the States Reorganisation Act, 1956, the zonal councils aim to strengthen cooperative federalism. Key issues on the agenda include women and child safety, banking accessibility, health, nutrition, education, and urban planning. These councils, while advisory in nature, have significantly contributed to fostering regional cooperation and policy coordination under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
