DGP Vinay Kumar’s Major Statement on Gopal Khemka Murder Case — Breakthrough Expected Soon, Acknowledges Police Delay

Patna (Bihar) : Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar has made a significant statement regarding the high-profile murder of businessman Gopal Khemka, indicating that the case may soon be cracked. He affirmed that the Patna Police and the Special Task Force (STF) are working diligently, and crucial progress has been made through technical investigation.

Speaking to the media, DGP Vinay Kumar said, “We are hopeful that the case will be solved very soon and the culprits will be brought to justice. We have received some important leads during the technical investigation, but we cannot share them publicly at this stage.”

He also mentioned that the STF recently conducted a detailed review and investigation into the case.

Acknowledges Delay in Police Response
Addressing concerns over the delayed police response after the incident, the DGP admitted that there was some delay in reaching the crime scene.
“When the incident occurred, the injured person was immediately taken to Mediversal Hospital. He arrived there around 12:30 PM, and within a few minutes, the Station House Officer (SHO) reached the location. Our priority at that moment was to save the victim’s life.”

He added that if any negligence by police officers is found, strict action will be taken — including suspension and departmental inquiry.

Security Was Withdrawn in 2024
DGP Vinay Kumar confirmed that Gopal Khemka was assigned a bodyguard in 2018 after the murder of his brother, Gunjan Khemka. However, the security cover was withdrawn in April 2024.

On this, he stated: “We are investigating why the security was removed — whether it was requested by Khemka himself or done through an administrative process. All related correspondence and orders are under thorough examination. If negligence is found on the part of any official, strict action will be taken.”

Suspects Detained, Surveillance Underway
The DGP informed that dozens of suspects have been detained for questioning based on initial suspicions. The investigation teams are using technical surveillance tools to trace the killers.

He emphasized that every angle is being explored and expressed confidence that the case will be solved soon.

This statement by DGP Vinay Kumar has brought renewed attention to the Gopal Khemka murder case, with the public and media closely watching for developments. The assurance of swift action and accountability has raised expectations for justice in one of Bihar’s most shocking recent crimes.
