Sadhvi Pragya’s Attack After Acquittal in Malegaon Case: “Those Who Spoke of Saffron Terror Stand Exposed”
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): After the National Investigation Agency (NIA) special court acquitted all accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, BJP leader Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur returned to her residence in Bhopal for the first time since the verdict. Speaking to the media, she launched a scathing attack on the Congress and opposition parties.
Sadhvi Pragya stated, “Those who labeled it ‘saffron terror’ have been disgraced. The society and the nation have given them a fitting response. The court’s verdict is absolutely clear — it’s a slap in the face of those who coined terms like ‘saffron terror’ and ‘Hindu terror’.”
She specifically named former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan, accusing him of promoting the narrative of ‘Sanatan terror’, which she said aligns with the ideological stance of the Congress party.
“These people all belong to the same category — they wanted to malign Sanatan culture and Hinduism,” she said. “But in the end, truth has prevailed.”
“Was Pressured to Name Modi and Yogi”
Reiterating her earlier claim that she was pressured to name Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during the investigation, Sadhvi Pragya said, “Yes, I was pressured, but I didn’t succumb. I didn’t falsely implicate anyone, which is why I was brutally tortured.”
Her comments carry significant political weight, as the Malegaon case has long been at the center of ideological clashes between the BJP and Congress.
The Malegaon blast in September 2008 killed six people and injured over 100. Sadhvi Pragya and six others were arrested in connection with the incident. Now, nearly 16 years later, the court has acquitted all accused due to lack of evidence.
Following the verdict, political sparring has intensified. While the BJP views this as the collapse of what it calls the Congress’ “false narrative,” the Congress has yet to issue an official response.
BJP MP Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur further stated, “Truth has triumphed, as it was bound to — because righteousness and dharma were on our side. Satyamev Jayate! I had said it earlier and now it has been proven. The anti-religious, anti-national elements have been exposed and defeated. The country has always stood with truth and dharma — and always will.”
