1.19 lakh people became aware of clean air campaign in Delhi-NCR
New Delhi : A series of activities under the “Breath of Change – Clean Air for Blue Skies” campaign sensitized over 1.19 lakh individuals in Delhi NCR to adopt eco-friendly practices, reduce pollution, and work for a healthier environment.
A series of activities under the “Breath of Change – Clean Air for Blue Skies” campaign, organized by Sulabh–International Institute of Health and Hygiene (IIHH), EIACP Resource Partner, under the aegis of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India, in collaboration with the Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR and Adjoining Areas (CAQM), over the last two months, were held as part of the observance of the International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies on September 7, 2025.
According to Dr. Namita Mathur, Coordinator, Sulabh–International Institute of Health and Hygiene, who led the campaign along with her team, a Micro-Forest Plantation and Sensitization Programme was organised to formally launch the campaign at MRV School, Dwarka, New Delhi. Over 600 participants engaged in plantation activities, witnessed a skit performance, and took the Clean Air Pledge under the theme ‘Breath of Change: Clean Air for Blue Skies.’
A vibrant Clean Air Awareness Programme was conducted at Mundka Market and Metro Station, Delhi, under the “Breath of Change” campaign. With over 2000 participants, the event featured a Placard march through the market place, clean air message skits, interactive sessions, mobile flash waving to the musical message.
An Awareness cum Sensitization Programme and Cleanliness Drive was conducted at Okhla Sabzi Mandi, New Delhi, With the participation of over 1,500 individuals, the event sensitized sanitation workers, vendors, and local residents to adopt clean air practices and sustainable solutions for a healthier urban environment.
A community engagement programme was organised at Shriniketan Apartment, Dwarka Sector-7. Another awareness cum Sensitization Programme was organised at Asha Kiran, Avantika Complex, Rohini, New Delhi, focusing on practical and sustainable solutions for clean air. Over 400 participants, including safai karamcharis and housekeepers, joined the session covering safe cleaning practices, harmful effects of chemicals, waste segregation, and air pollution.
An Awareness-cum-Sensitization Programme was conducted at Anand Vihar Metro Station and Bus Stand, New Delhi, under the “Clean Air for Blue Skies – Breath of Change” campaign. The event engaged over 8,000 participants, including metro and bus commuters, local vendors, bus drivers/helpers, and nearby residents, through a series of impactful activities. Additionally, plantation drives at Jahangir Puri and Dwarka, along with sensitization programmes at Mayapuri Scrap Market and Dwarka Metro Station and Dwarka Sector – 21 Metro Station (Terminal), New Delhi, engaged more than 11,000 participants through tree plantation, interactive activities, photo booths, and the #VayuMitra Pledge, collectively promoting clean air and sustainable living. The campaign successfully raised awareness on clean air and inspired collective action for a healthier urban environment.
In addition to on-ground activities, a digital awareness campaign reached approximately 11,000 recipients through the circulation of IEC materials, plantation drive updates, and a Digital Pledge Drive & Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam with e-certificates for the participants.
Through these combined offline and online efforts, the campaign successfully engaged over 1.19 lakh individuals across Delhi NCR during July–September 2025, inspiring citizens to adopt eco-friendly practices and work collectively towards “Clean Air for Blue Skies”.
