Shahnaz Husain’s Beauty Tips for Navratri: Stay Radiant Through the Festive Season

New Delhi : As India gears up for the vibrant festival season starting with Navratri, women across the country are preparing to step out in their festive best. With social events like Garba, Dandiya, and Durga Puja pandals, there’s a natural desire to look beautiful, confident, and radiant. However, the sudden change in weather, fasting routines, and hectic schedules can take a toll on skin and overall appearance.

Internationally acclaimed beauty expert Shahnaz Husain shares simple yet powerful beauty tips to help women look their best during Navratri — without compromising skin health.

“With the onset of cooler weather, the air loses moisture, leading to dryness and dullness,” says Shahnaz. “Fasting and irregular eating can further drain the skin’s glow. That’s why proper skincare and hydration are essential during Navratri.”

She advises women to start with the basics: cleansing, toning, and moisturizing. For oily skin, use an astringent before applying a light foundation. Always opt for minimal and waterproof makeup—especially for outdoor or dance events—to avoid smudging due to sweat or humidity.

Planning to wear a backless outfit for Garba night? Don’t forget a back wax or polish session a few days in advance to avoid any last-minute skin reactions. Regular pedicure and manicure are a must, but if salon visits aren’t possible, scrubbing with lemon juice and sugar at home works well.

To relieve tired feet after long hours of dancing, Shahnaz recommends soaking feet in warm water mixed with baking soda, Epsom salt, lavender oil, and apple cider vinegar. It helps relax the muscles and keeps feet fresh.

Also, drink plenty of water, coconut water, fresh juice, and soups to stay hydrated and maintain skin’s natural glow. For tired eyes, ensure 8–10 hours of sleep to prevent puffiness.

Before going to bed, always remove makeup gently, clean your jewellery, and massage your skin with virgin coconut oil.

“With a few simple steps and the right care, every woman can glow naturally and enjoy the Navratri festivities to the fullest,” concludes Shahnaz.
