Two literary giants will be honoured at the 16th edition of Literature Live

Mumbai : The Mumbai Litfest 2025. Vinod Kumar Shukla, a renowned Hindi novelist and poet known for works like Naukar Ki Kameez, will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Shukla has won prestigious awards including the Sahitya Akademi, Jnanpith, and the PEN/Nabokov Award. Sitanshu Yashaschandra, an eminent Gujarati poet and playwright awarded the Sahitya Akademi and Padma Shri, will be the festival’s Poet Laureate. Yashaschandra has strong ties to Mumbai, having studied and taught here.

Festival co-directors Amy Fernandes and Quasar Thakore Padamsee expressed pride in celebrating these icons who enrich Indian literature across languages. Nadir Godrej, Chairman of Godrej Industries, called their presence a matter of immense pride, highlighting India’s literary diversity.
