Tej Pratap Yadav Launches New Party ‘Jan Shakti Janata Dal’; Poster Features Gandhi and Ambedkar, Lalu Missing

Patna (Bihar) : RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, has announced the formation of his new political party, Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JJD). The party’s poster prominently features Mahatma Gandhi and B.R. Ambedkar, but conspicuously leaves out his father, Lalu Prasad Yadav.

While unveiling the party, Tej Pratap said that his politics would focus on representing the poor, oppressed, and marginalized communities. He emphasized that the ideologies of Gandhi and Ambedkar would form the foundation of his new party. He further claimed that JJD would emerge as a fresh political alternative in Bihar.

Political observers see this move as an attempt by Tej Pratap to carve out his independent identity after his recent fallout with his family and party. Just a few months ago, Lalu Prasad Yadav had expelled Tej Pratap from both the family and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

The party’s poster also highlights five iconic leaders—Mahatma Gandhi, B.R. Ambedkar, Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayaprakash Narayan, and Karpoori Thakur—while deliberately omitting Lalu Prasad Yadav. The slogan on the poster reads:
“Jan Shakti Janata Dal: Social Justice – Social Rights – Complete Transformation. People’s Power, People’s Rule – Tej Pratap will ensure Bihar’s development.”
The poster also includes a mobile number for those wishing to join the new party.

Tej Pratap Yadav has declared that he will contest the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections from Mahua constituency. He recalled that he had won from the same seat in 2015, marking his electoral debut. Calling Mahua his “karmabhoomi” (land of action), he asserted that if any other candidate contests from there, the people will reject them.

It is worth noting that earlier this year, a Facebook post allegedly from Tej Pratap went viral, claiming he had been in a relationship with a girl named Anushka for 12 years. The controversy further deepened the rift within the Lalu family.
