BCWI 2025: 125 Companies Named Best Workplaces for Women

Mumbai: India’s leading workplace culture consultancy, Avtar, has released the 10th edition of the Best Companies for Women in India (BCWI) list. This year, 125 companies have made it to the list. A notable highlight is that women’s representation at leadership levels has, for the first time, reached 20%, while the overall proportion of women employees has remained steady at 35.7%.

The professional services sector leads with 44.6% women employees, followed by ITES at 41.7%. Pharma (25%), FMCG (23%), and manufacturing (12%) sectors are also making consistent efforts to enhance female participation.

The study shows that the attrition rate for both men and women stands at around 20%. For both groups, the primary reason is the pursuit of “better career opportunities.” However, for women, health and wellness-related issues emerged as significant reasons for leaving jobs—outweighing even childcare responsibilities.

Dr. Saundarya Rajesh, Founder and Chairperson of Avtar, said: “In 2016, women’s representation averaged 25%, which has now grown to 35.7% this year. Women’s participation in the C-suite has also increased from 13% to 20%. The most encouraging aspect is that this progress is no longer limited to multinational corporations. The share of Indian companies has grown from 25% in 2021 to 40% this year.”

A total of 365 organizations applied for BCWI 2025, spanning sectors such as automobile, BFSI, chemicals, FMCG, e-commerce, IT, healthcare, pharma, real estate, media, logistics, and professional services.

Avtar and Seramount jointly released the list of the top 10 best companies for women in India for 2025.
