Indian traders have a golden opportunity to increase meat export to Egypt: Ambassador, Egypt

New Delhi : Indian meat exporters have a significant opportunity to increase their share in overall meat export to Egypt, even to 100% from current 75-80%, the ambassador of Egypt to India said today at a function held in New Delhi.

“My understanding is that Indian meat in Egypt is approximately now between 75 and 80%. We do hope that you will want to increase the meat trade to 85%, to 90%, 100%, but if you are willing to go to 100% Egypt will extend all support,” said his excellency, Mr. Weal Mohamed Awad Hamed.

During the event, IS EG Halal, the only entity exclusively authorized by the Government of Egypt to certify Halal exports worldwide, announced the starting of operations in India through their local office Halal Market India to certify all meat products from India to Egypt as we open the market to expand the trading between India and Egypt.

“When the Honorable Prime Minister was in Egypt in June 2023, one of the issues that both countries have agreed to cooperate on is in the field of food security. 99% of the Egypt population are non-vegetarian and therefore meat is an important part of food security. ISEG Halal Egypt the only authorised entity who certifies Halal products to Egypt will be opening their new office under the name of Halal Market in India to help Indian exporters,” his excellency added.

Egyptian Embassy announced in the presence of APEDA officials that Halal Market part of ISEG will now operate in India to certify Halal to all the meat products being exported to Egypt.

Dr. Gasser Elsayed, CEO, Halal Market India stated that new operations or Halal Certification will have no facilitation fees, only the announced price list from the authorities in Egypt will be applied and there will be no limitations for exporting to any traders in Egypt.
