Bus Marshals Surround Delhi CM Atishi’s Home: What Happens Next?
New Delhi: Ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections, protests continue to take place on various issues. On Tuesday, bus marshals in Delhi surrounded the residence of Chief Minister Atishi in Kalkaji, demanding permanent jobs. They claimed that their jobs had been taken away in recent months and they were being harassed. The bus marshals stated that they were being treated like “football,” being moved around with no job security.
The bus marshals accused the government of politicizing the issue and said that they were being given only four-month contracts instead of permanent employment. They emphasized that they did not want temporary jobs but permanent positions. They warned that if their demands were not met, they would teach the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) a lesson in the upcoming elections. They threatened to go door-to-door, urging the public not to vote for the party.
Speaking during the protest, Vipin Kumar, one of the protesters, said, “Today, we are surrounding the Chief Minister’s house. In the future, we will surround the homes of AAP MLAs in all 70 constituencies of Delhi.”
In response to the protest, the Delhi Police deployed forces around Atishi’s residence. Police set up barricades to prevent the bus marshals from advancing any further.
