Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Announced Projects Worth ₹451 Crore for Muzaffarpur During ‘Pragati Yatra’
Patna/Muzaffarpur (Bihar): Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, on the second phase of his ‘Pragati Yatra,’ announced 76 development projects worth ₹451.40 crore for Muzaffarpur district. Speaking to journalists, he emphasized his commitment to the state’s development. He stated, “We have consistently worked for the development of Bihar. We mistakenly aligned elsewhere twice, but now we will stay with the NDA and work together. We have worked for the welfare of all communities, including Hindus and Muslims.”
The Chief Minister highlighted the transformation in women’s status under his government, stating, “Earlier, everyone was aware of the condition of women. People wouldn’t step out of their homes in the evenings. The previous governments did nothing for women’s empowerment. Since our government came to power, we initiated numerous measures for women, leading to significant improvements. We established Self-Help Groups under the name ‘Jeevika.’ The condition of women associated with Jeevika has improved remarkably. The Jeevika Didis are now doing excellent work.”
He also noted that the central government at that time praised the Jeevika initiative and replicated it nationwide under the name ‘Aajeevika.’ “We ensure all necessary support for Jeevika Didis and are committed to their progress,” he added.
Earlier in the day, the Chief Minister reviewed plans for a high-level bridge over the Bagmati River and the Garha (NH-57)-Hathauri-Atarar-Bawangama-Aurai road project, estimated at ₹814.22 crore. He also inspected the four-laning work of the NH-122 Muzaffarpur-Barauni section and the proposed construction site of the Muzaffarpur Eastern Ring Road. The proposed ring road, connecting Madhoul (New NH-22), Dighra Patti (New NH-122), and Bakhri (New NH-27), is expected to ease traffic congestion in the urban areas of Muzaffarpur by diverting vehicles heading towards Patna, Samastipur, and Barauni without entering the city.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister directed officials to expedite the construction of proposed roads and bridges.
As part of the event, the Chief Minister symbolically handed over financial assistance, including ₹48.12 crore in initial and revolving funds to 1,559 community organizations, ₹7.05 crore to 1,595 beneficiaries under the Sustainable Livelihood Scheme, and symbolic checks for various other schemes. He also distributed battery-operated vehicles to beneficiaries under the Chief Minister’s Sambal Yojana and incentives under the Inter-Caste Marriage Promotion Scheme and Private (Other Species) Nursery Incentive Scheme.
