CM Khandu assured omprehensive development in the coming years

Siang (Arunachal Pradesh) : Chief Minister Pema Khandu assured the people of Siang district, particularly those residing in the Rumgong assembly constituency, of comprehensive development in the coming years. While attending the Hiyom Banggo Unying Giidi festival this morning, Khandu acknowledged that the Rumgong region has remained underdeveloped for a long time and assured that the state government would make every effort to bridge the developmental gap.

He identified road connectivity as the primary concern and committed that all unconnected villages in the assembly segment would be linked in the next few years. To begin with, Khandu revealed that four roads have been proposed under the PMGSY-IV in the Payum circle, which will enhance connectivity in the region.

The four proposed roads include a 47 km BRO road from Dupu, Yio, Payum, Gacheng, and Gate villages to Gate, an 8 km road from Payum to Gaming, a 13 km BRO road to Meying (Bogu), and an 11 km BRO road to Sirum, via Tuying.

As a special festival gesture, the Chief Minister announced the sanction of Rs 66 crore worth of projects in the area, including several roads, two circuit houses, a school building and quarters for Pessing Govt HS School, and an ADC office building at Rumgong.

He also informed that the State Budget for 2025-26 would be presented in March and assured that proposals submitted by the Guardian Minister and Mentor Secretary of the district, in consultation with the local legislator and district administration, would be positively considered.

Highlighting the region’s agricultural and horticultural potential, Khandu shared that the state government would soon establish a fruit farm in the area to support local farmers by adding value to their products and offering market linkages.

Encouraging the youth, he urged them to take advantage of schemes such as the Entrepreneurship Development Programme and the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Swavlamban Yojna to start their own businesses. “Government jobs are limited, and not everyone can be accommodated. Therefore, our youth must stand on their own feet and become job creators rather than job seekers,” he emphasized.

Khandu also stated that once the Trans-Arunachal Highway stretch from Kaying to Mechuka is completed, the Rumgong assembly segment will be well connected with the rest of the state. Furthermore, once the ambitious 2500 km Frontier Highway is executed, the entire upper belt of Arunachal Pradesh will witness significant improvements in tourism and agriculture-horticulture production.

Responding to a 5-point memorandum submitted by local legislator Talem Taboh, the Chief Minister assured that all the demands would be addressed soon.

“This is my first time attending the Unying Giidi festival. Due to time constraints, I won’t be able to fully enjoy it this time, but I promise I will come prepared next time,” he added.
