Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) : Yogi Adityanath has etched his name into the political history of Uttar Pradesh by becoming the longest-serving Chief Minister of the state. Surpassing the previous record held by Govind Ballabh Pant, Yogi has now completed 8 years and 128 days in office — the longest tenure by any CM in the state.
Govind Ballabh Pant, who was the first Chief Minister of independent India, served from August 15, 1947, to December 27, 1954 — a total of 8 years and 127 days. Yogi Adityanath has now overtaken this milestone.
Yogi Adityanath took oath as CM on March 19, 2017, and after securing a massive victory in the 2022 Assembly elections, he became the first BJP leader to return as CM for a second consecutive term. With this latest achievement, he has also set a new benchmark in terms of tenure.
