Crackdown on Illegal Bangladeshi Immigrants Intensifies Across India: 50 Detained in Tamil Nadu, Major Action in West Bengal

New Delhi: India has intensified its nationwide crackdown on Bangladeshi nationals residing illegally in the country, with coordinated operations by central and state agencies gathering momentum. Security forces are taking stringent action against illegal immigrants who allegedly entered India through unauthorized routes using forged identity documents and support from organized networks. Ongoing operations in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Delhi, and other states indicate a tougher approach toward illegal immigration and cross-border infiltration.

Deportation Process Begins for 50 Bangladeshi Nationals in Tamil Nadu

In the latest operation, the Tamil Nadu Police initiated the deportation process for 50 Bangladeshi nationals, including 44 men and six women. They had been housed at a special detention facility in Attur Taluk of Salem district.

Following official clearance, the detainees were transported under tight security in three vehicles to Tiruchirappalli, from where they were sent to West Bengal in a reserved coach of the Howrah Express. The operation was supervised by Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaktivel of the Salem Armed Reserve, with support from a 40-member armed police team.

To Be Handed Over at Haridaspur Border

According to police officials, the detainees will be handed over to the Border Security Force (BSF) at the Haridaspur land border checkpoint in West Bengal. They will subsequently be transferred to Bangladeshi authorities as part of the deportation process.

Officials say the move sends a strong message against illegal immigration and those involved in facilitating unauthorized stay in India.

Over 130 Foreign Nationals Still in Detention Camp

Authorities said that more than 130 foreign nationals continue to remain at the Attur special detention camp. Some cases are still under investigation, while others involve individuals who are out on bail.

The situation highlights the scale of illegal immigration and the challenge posed by networks that allegedly provide shelter, employment, forged identity documents, and logistical support to foreign nationals staying unlawfully in India.

Nine Bangladeshi Nationals Detained in West Bengal

In a separate operation, police in Murshidabad district of West Bengal detained nine suspected Bangladeshi nationals from the Bhagwangola Railway Station premises.

Police acted on intelligence inputs regarding suspicious individuals moving around the station. After questioning, authorities identified all nine as Bangladeshi nationals and took them into custody for further legal proceedings.

Focus Expands to Organized Illegal Networks

Security experts believe that illegal immigration is not limited to unauthorized border crossings alone. It often involves organized networks that allegedly arrange forged documents, accommodation, employment, and identity concealment for illegal immigrants.

Security agencies are therefore expanding their investigations beyond illegal entrants to dismantle the networks that facilitate such activities. The government’s stated objective is to strengthen border security while eliminating organized systems that enable unlawful immigration within the country.
