Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva Takes a Dip in Yamuna, Criticizes Delhi Government Over Pollution

New Delhi :  Virendra Sachdeva, the Delhi Pradesh President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), visited the ITO Chhath Ghat today to target the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) regarding pollution in the Yamuna River. In a show of protest, he also took a dip in the river. Sachdeva accused the Delhi government of doing nothing to clean the Yamuna and stated that they had promised to make the river clean and suitable for bathing before the 2025 elections. He emphasized that Delhi residents are waiting for this promise to be fulfilled.

Sachdeva expressed his frustration over AAP’s leadership, claiming that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has deceived the people of Delhi under the guise of cleaning the Yamuna. He remarked that, like many of his other promises, Kejriwal has failed to deliver on this one as well.

He mentioned that they were waiting at the ITO Chhath Ghat for former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and current Chief Minister Atishi Marlena, but they did not show up.

Sachdeva added that they had arranged a red carpet for the occasion, acknowledging that those who reside in lavish settings are accustomed to such treatment. He humorously noted that two chairs were set up for Atishi, as it was a tradition she initiated, and expressed hope that Kejriwal would also attend, urging him to account for the ₹8,500 crore provided by the central government for cleaning the Yamuna.

In criticizing AAP, Sachdeva pointed out that the deterioration of Delhi’s air quality is a result of Kejriwal’s leadership. He claimed that for the past decade, only advertisements have been issued in the name of controlling air pollution, and if genuine efforts had been made, the current state of Delhi would be different. He also highlighted the poor condition of the city’s roads.
