Delhi Government Celebrates Republic Day at Chhatrasal Stadium

New Delhi: On Saturday, the Delhi Government celebrated Republic Day at Chhatrasal Stadium. The event’s chief guest, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, hoisted the national flag on the eve of Republic Day and extended greetings to Delhiites and the nation.

During her address, she highlighted the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, emphasizing the relief provided to the people of Delhi through free electricity, water, education, healthcare, and other services. She stated that the Delhi government allocates 25% of its budget to ensure quality education for children and provides 24-hour electricity to the entire city.

She mentioned that even during the severe heatwaves last year, there were no power cuts in Delhi. At present, over 1.1 million women benefit from free public transportation daily, increasing their economic participation. Over the past decade, the government has built 38 flyovers and significantly developed roads, metro networks, and bus services.

Atishi emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering every woman in Delhi, ensuring access to quality education, healthcare, and employment opportunities for all citizens.

She also paid tribute to the freedom fighters, recalling their sacrifices for India’s independence. Atishi acknowledged Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s monumental contribution in drafting the Indian Constitution after independence, which laid the foundation for citizens’ rights and representation.

Reflecting on India’s past, she said that although the nation was often called the “Golden Bird” due to its rich natural resources, these were not used for the benefit of the people during British rule.

Atishi highlighted infrastructure developments in Delhi over the past decade, including the construction of flyovers at Punjabi Bagh, Anand Vihar, and Wazirabad. She noted the expansion of the Delhi Metro, with its 450-kilometer network connecting every corner of the city. This has enabled people to commute across the city easily for work and education.

Concluding her address, the Chief Minister stated that the story of Delhi’s development is far from over. She urged all residents to pledge their commitment to taking Delhi to greater heights. She expressed confidence in empowering women so they would not have to depend financially on anyone, providing better education for children, creating employment opportunities for the youth, and ensuring quality healthcare for senior citizens.

As the nation celebrates its 76th Republic Day, Atishi called for collective efforts to uphold the Constitution and realize the dreams of freedom fighters. She expressed her belief that the remarkable progress of the past decade would continue in the years ahead, with Delhiites working together to achieve even greater milestones.
