Israel Destroys at Least 100 Military Sites in Syria
Damascus: Israel has launched an aggressive attack on Syria, reducing at least 100 military sites across the country to rubble in no time. Following the capture of the country by rebels, ousted President Bashar al-Assad has reportedly fled to Russia with his family. According to the Arabic news website “+963,” the Israeli military conducted ground incursions in the southwestern rural areas of Quneitra on Monday, followed by airstrikes targeting multiple military sites linked to the former Syrian government.
At least two explosions occurred near a former government facility in the Barzeh area of Damascus, previously associated with chemical weapons production. Additionally, military warehouses and headquarters tied to Iran-backed factions around the Sayyida Zainab region in southern Damascus were also targeted.
A local source cited by the website stated that Israeli military aircraft attacked the Shayrat military airbase in the rural areas of Homs in central Syria, destroying a large portion of it. This area is known to host fighters from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, but the Israeli forces did not inflict any damage on them.
Israel also targeted the Qamishli airport and the Tartab Regiment in the northeastern rural areas of Hasakah, leading to multiple explosions in the region. In the eastern part of the country, airstrikes razed a former headquarters of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard near the Ayn Ali Shrine in the Al-Mayadin desert in Deir ez-Zor. This site housed artillery, and the strikes set fire to tanks, ammunition, and mines.
Israeli fighter jets further destroyed military boats stationed at the Latakia port in the western part of the country and air defense installations near Al-Bayda port in Ras Shamra. According to the Israeli newspaper Maariv, after Syrian forces retreated, Israeli forces seized control of the Mount Hermon military site. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that the buffer zone is now under control.
On Monday, Israel carried out attacks on at least 100 military sites in Syria. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israel targeted military sites across various regions. Earlier, on Sunday and Saturday, Israeli warplanes conducted concentrated airstrikes on Syria’s strategic military and security sites.
As per the Israeli Broadcasting Authority, Israeli forces bombed a scientific research center in Damascus, which is known for developing chemical weapons and long-range missiles. They also targeted the Khalkhala Air Base, where large stockpiles of rockets and missiles exploded and caught fire following the airstrikes.
