PM GatiShakti Set for Fresh Momentum as Chhattisgarh Government Signs Two Key MoUs

Raipur : The Chhattisgarh government has signed two significant Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to strengthen the implementation of the PM GatiShakti initiative in the state by promoting the use of geospatial technology and integrated logistics data. The agreements are expected to make infrastructure planning and development projects more data-driven, coordinated and efficient.

The MoUs have been signed with the Bhaskaracharya National Institute for Space Applications and Geo-Informatics (BISAG-N) and the National Logistics Data Services Limited (NLDSL). The agreements were signed on August 20 during the PM GatiShakti and LEADS 2025 Dissemination Workshop held in Raipur.

The workshop was jointly organized by the Chhattisgarh Government’s Department of Commerce and Industry and the Government of India’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT).

Data-Driven Development to Get a Boost

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai said that PM GatiShakti is strengthening data-driven decision-making in Chhattisgarh. The initiative is helping the state plan infrastructure more effectively, identify gaps in connectivity and logistics, and promote better-coordinated industrial development.

He said the initiative is also helping create a strong ecosystem for investment and sustainable economic growth in the state.

Over 35 Departments Integrated with PM GatiShakti

The workshop highlighted Chhattisgarh’s progress in implementing PM GatiShakti. More than 35 departments have already been integrated with the platform, while 41 critical and over 600 additional data layers have been mapped.

The state has also developed 45 use cases and 30 tools under PM GatiShakti. This has helped transform the platform from a digital data repository into a practical tool for infrastructure planning and development.

GIS Technology Helping Prevent Road Accidents

Under PM GatiShakti, GIS-based identification of road black spots is being undertaken to help authorities take corrective measures in accident-prone areas and improve road safety.

Data-driven approaches are also being used to identify villages with inadequate access to banking facilities and to improve bus routes under MMGBY.

More Than 80 Projects Supported

Under the state’s annual action plan, more than 80 projects have received support. Around 600 mobile towers have been installed to improve connectivity at tourism destinations. In addition, 700 acres of land have been identified in Nava Raipur under the ‘Bhavya’ scheme.

Chhattisgarh Performs Well in LEADS 2025

Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of the leading states in the implementation of PM GatiShakti. In the DPIIT LEADS 2025 assessment, the state was also counted among the better-performing landlocked states.

The use of PM GatiShakti extends beyond roads, railways and industrial infrastructure. The Forest Department’s ‘Gaj Sanket’ app, aimed at reducing human-elephant conflict, is another example of the initiative’s application.

The app enables authorities to make decisions based on the actual geographical location of a problem rather than merely relying on administrative boundaries. This facilitates better coordination among departments and supports efforts to reduce human-elephant conflict.

With the signing of the two new MoUs, Chhattisgarh is expected to further expand the use of geospatial technology, logistics data and digital planning. The move is likely to make infrastructure development in the state more integrated, efficient and data-driven.
