President Murmu Visits Cleanliness Campaign Exhibition in Ujjain, Interacts with Sanitation Workers

Ujjain: On the second day of her two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh, President Droupadi Murmu visited the village of Dhendia in Ujjain on Thursday. She toured an exhibition organized under the Swachhata Hi Seva (Cleanliness is Service) 2024 campaign at Rudraksh Hotel.

During her visit, President Murmu viewed various exhibits, including baby care kits made from unused clothes, products crafted from coconut waste and cow dung, and multi-purpose items created from dry waste. She also saw products made from flowers and offerings from the Mahakaleshwar Temple, such as incense sticks, and machines used for processing these materials. Additionally, stalls displayed safety equipment and resources for sanitation workers, and arrangements for zero-waste events.

The President engaged in a conversation with sanitation workers, including Poonam Sarwan, Deepak Thanwar, Vidhi Sangat, Radha Dhavre, and Jyoti Tank, to understand their experiences.

President Murmu also took a keen interest in the incense stick-making machine that recycles flowers offered to Lord Mahakaleshwar. Shakuntala Malviya, Shantibai Chaudhary, and Kavita Parmar explained how flowers offered at the temple are recycled to produce incense sticks. The President praised the initiative and was informed that similar arrangements would soon be implemented at other major temples.
