Rishabh Pant Pens Emotional Farewell Note to Delhi Capitals: “Goodbyes Are Never Easy”
New Delhi : After being acquired by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the IPL 2025 mega auction, Rishabh Pant shared an emotional farewell message for his former team, Delhi Capitals. Pant has now become the most expensive player in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL), with Lucknow-based franchise purchasing him for a whopping ₹27 crore during the auction.
In his illustrious career with Delhi, Pant played 111 matches, scoring 3,284 runs at an impressive strike rate of 148.93, including one century and 17 half-centuries, with his highest score being 128 not out*. Pant holds the record as the highest run-scorer for the franchise. Under his captaincy, Delhi Capitals reached the playoffs in 2021 but fell short in the league stages in 2022 and 2024.
Taking to his official social media handle, Pant wrote:
“Goodbyes are never easy.”
He further shared,
“My journey with Delhi Capitals has been nothing short of extraordinary. From the thrilling moments on the field to the camaraderie off it, I have grown in ways I never imagined. I joined this team as a teenager, and over the past nine years, I’ve grown alongside it.”
Pant expressed deep gratitude to the fans who made his time with Delhi Capitals meaningful:
“It’s you, the fans, who have made this journey so special. You embraced me, cheered for me, and stood by me during the toughest phases of my life.”
The wicketkeeper-batter reassured his fans that he would continue to play for their entertainment wherever he goes:
“As I move forward, I carry your love and support in my heart. Every time I step on the field, I will be eager to entertain you. Thank you for being my family and making this journey so memorable.”
