West Bengal: Three Coaches of Passenger Train Derail Near Nalpur, Shalimar; No Injuries Reported
Kolkata: Three coaches of a passenger train derailed near Nalpur, close to Shalimar in Howrah, on Saturday morning. Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries or casualties. Railway staff and security forces reached the scene promptly to begin relief operations. The incident has disrupted services on the South Eastern Railway line.
A South Eastern Railway official confirmed that no passengers were injured in the derailment. Of the three derailed coaches, two were carrying passengers, and one was a parcel van. Senior officials are investigating the cause of the accident and working to restore rail services as quickly as possible.
South Eastern Railway CPRO Om Prakash Chauran stated, “…Around 5:31 a.m. today, the Secunderabad-Shalimar SF Express derailed while switching from the middle line to the down line at Nalpur station. Fortunately, there were no serious injuries or casualties. Ten buses have been arranged to transport passengers to their destinations… Restoration work is ongoing after safely dispatching all passengers.”
Train movement along this route in the South Eastern Railway has been delayed, and some trains have been rerouted as a result of the derailment.
