YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Apologizes for Controversial Remarks on ‘India’s Got Latent’
New Delhi : YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia has issued an apology for his controversial remarks made during the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. He shared a video on social media platform X, expressing regret and stating, “I will do better.” He also mentioned that he has requested the video creators to remove the insensitive portions from the episode.
The Controversy
Ranveer recently appeared as a jury member on the YouTube show ‘India’s Got Latent’. During the episode, he was seen making an inappropriate comment toward a contestant. The remark quickly went viral on the internet, drawing widespread criticism.
Many viewers accused him of making the comment deliberately to gain attention while disregarding social decency and family values. Critics also argued that such remarks negatively influence the younger audience, which forms a significant portion of his viewership.
Ranveer’s Apology
As the controversy escalated, Ranveer took to X to issue a public apology. He stated:
“My comment was not only inappropriate, but it was also not even comedic. Comedy is not my talent. I am here solely to apologize. Many of you have asked if this is how I want to use my platform. My answer is: No, this is not the way I wish to go. I am not here to justify my actions—I am here to say sorry.”
The 31-year-old YouTuber admitted that he had made a poor judgment call, adding:
“It was my mistake. This podcast is watched by people of all age groups, and I do not want to be someone who takes responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I would ever disrespect. I should have used this platform in a better way, and that is the lesson I have learned. I promise to improve myself. I have asked the video creators to remove the insensitive parts from the episode. In the end, I can only say—I apologize, and I hope you can forgive me as a person.”
Legal Action Against Ranveer & Others
Apart from Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, social media influencer Apoorva Makheja, and the organizers of ‘India’s Got Latent’ have also been named in a written complaint regarding the incident.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Reacts
As the controversy gained momentum, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the issue during a press briefing on Monday. He stated:
“I have heard about it, but I have not seen it yet. From what I understand, something was said and presented in a very offensive manner, which is completely wrong. Everyone has the right to freedom of expression, but our freedom ends when it infringes upon others’ rights. Indian society has certain moral boundaries, and if someone crosses them, it is considered entirely unacceptable. If such incidents happen, action must be taken.”
The controversy continues to spark debate over the responsibility of public figures and the limits of free speech in digital content.
