13 Active Maoists Arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur; Explosives Seized
Bijapur/Raipur (Chhatisgarh): Security forces arrested 13 active Maoists from different police station areas in Bijapur on Monday evening, including a wanted Maoist carrying a ₹1 lakh bounty. Seven Naxals were captured from the forests near Tekmetla village in Usur police station limits, while six were arrested from Basaguda police station area.
According to Bijapur DSP Ghanshyam Kamde, the arrested Maoists were involved in the 2022 IED blast that injured a CRPF jawan. Some were also linked to the killings of two civilians in October last year. The joint operation involved Usur Police, CoBRA 201, 205, 206, 210, and CRPF 196 Battalion.
Seized from their possession were explosives, tiffin bombs, Cardex wire, and electric wires. Those arrested in Usur include Baman Madvi (RPC DAKMS member), Sodhi Hidma (Militia Platoon Commander), Barse Anda (CNM member), Barse Hadma, Devendra Rava, Irpa Arjun (Sangham member), and Sukka Oyam.
Meanwhile, Basaguda Police and CoBRA 210 arrested six Maoists involved in the murders of two villagers in Putkel and Marudbaka. The arrested include Kosa alias Jagesh Kunjam (RPC DAKMS president), Kosa Madvi alias Bolli, Bandi Madvi alias Rajesh, Deva Muchaki (DAKMS vice president), Madvi Joga, and Deva Muchaki (militia member). They were involved in the murders of villagers Dinesh Pujari on October 29, 2024, and Tirupati Bhandari, a PDS shop owner, on October 19.
