BSNL Launches Nationwide Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) Services Across All Circles

New Delhi: On the occasion of the New Year, India’s leading public sector telecom provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), has announced the nationwide rollout of Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWiFi) services, also known as Wi-Fi Calling. This advanced service is now available to all BSNL customers across every telecom circle in the country, ensuring seamless and high-quality connectivity even in challenging environments.
The service allows BSNL customers to make and receive voice calls and messages over a Wi-Fi network, guaranteeing clear and reliable connectivity in areas with weak mobile signals such as homes, offices, basements, and remote locations.
VoWiFi is an IMS-based service that supports seamless handover between Wi-Fi and mobile networks. Calls are made using the customer’s existing mobile number and phone dialer, with no third-party applications required.
The service is particularly beneficial in rural and remote areas where mobile coverage is limited, provided a stable Wi-Fi connection is available through BSNL Bharat Fiber or any other broadband service. VoWiFi also helps reduce load on mobile networks and is provided free of charge without any extra cost for Wi-Fi calls.
The launch of VoWiFi marks a significant step in BSNL’s network modernization program and its commitment to improving connectivity nationwide, especially in underserved areas.
VoWiFi is supported on most modern smartphones. Customers need to simply enable Wi-Fi Calling in their handset settings. For device compatibility and support, customers can visit the nearest BSNL customer service center or contact the BSNL helpline at 1800 1503.
