‘Assi’ Motion Poster Released: After a Mysterious Tease, the Film’s Intent Becomes Clear

Mumbai: Anubhav Sinha’s upcoming film Assi raises a question we encounter every day but often choose to ignore. With the release of its motion poster, more details about the film are emerging, and its intent is becoming increasingly clear.

One of Indian cinema’s most influential studios, T-Series, adds a new dimension to its diverse filmography with Assi. Produced under the banner of Banaras Media Works, the film stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. She is joined by Kani Kusruti, Revathi, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra, and Zeeshan Ayyub in key roles, while Naseeruddin Shah, Supriya Pathak, and Seema Bhargava appear in special appearances.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha, and is slated for a theatrical release on February 20, 2026.

The promotional campaign began two days ago with only text posters, sparking curiosity among audiences and within the industry. The first poster read:

“Eighty. Per day. Every day.”
Alongside only the film’s title — Assi — and the release date — February 20.

A subsequent text poster revealed an unusual detail: the film’s writer has been paid the highest remuneration among the entire team. This was a clear signal that Assi places its story and writing at the very center. Perhaps for the first time, a film has introduced its writer before highlighting the studio, director, producers, or cast.

Assi is described as a bold and intense investigative thriller that unfolds through a gripping courtroom drama. By the end of the film, viewers may find themselves asking: Did I not know this already? Or did I simply choose to overlook it?

Justice is important, but before that, the very definition of justice must be examined. Are those proven guilty truly the real culprits?

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series, Assi is a Banaras Media Works production, directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, and Anubhav Sinha.

The film will release worldwide in theatres on February 20, 2026.
