Nitish Kumar Files Nomination for Rajya Sabha; Amit Shah and Nitin Naveen Present

Patna: In a major political development in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Nitin Naveen were present during the filing of the nomination papers. The move has triggered intense political speculation in the state, particularly over who will succeed him as the next Chief Minister of Bihar.

The nomination comes just four months after Nitish Kumar took oath for a record 10th term as Chief Minister. Having dominated Bihar’s political landscape for over two decades as the supremo of Janata Dal United (JD(U)), his decision to move to the Rajya Sabha has significantly altered the state’s political equations.

BJP to Stake Claim? Samrat Choudhary Seen as Front-Runner

With Nitish Kumar heading to the Rajya Sabha, speculation is rife that the Bharatiya Janata Party may now project its own Chief Minister in Bihar. Among the leading contenders is Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. A prominent leader from the Kushwaha OBC community, Choudhary has steadily strengthened his position within both the party organization and the state government. His active role in the NDA government and administrative experience are seen as key advantages.

Nityanand Rai and Other Names in Discussion

Another prominent name doing the rounds is Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai. A senior BJP leader from the Yadav community, Rai has worked closely under Amit Shah for several years. Political analysts suggest that elevating him could send a strong message to the Yadav community, traditionally considered a core support base of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), led by Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav.

In addition, Bihar minister and former BJP state president Dilip Jaiswal is also being mentioned as a potential candidate. Belonging to the Vaishya (Kalwar) community, Jaiswal is regarded as an organizationally reliable and moderate leader. His influence in the Seemanchal region, particularly around Kishanganj, is seen as a significant political asset.

Political Buzz at Its Peak

Nitish Kumar’s decision to move to the Rajya Sabha has ushered Bihar politics into a new phase. All eyes are now on the BJP and NDA leadership as they deliberate on the next course of action. It is widely believed that the coming days will redefine the power equations in the state.
