Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Urges Public Representatives to Lead TB-Free Delhi Mission, Reaffirms ‘TB Harega, Bharat Jeetega’ Pledge
New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday reaffirmed the pledge of “TB Harega, Bharat Jeetega” (TB Will Lose, India Will Win) during a Sensitization Workshop held at the Delhi Secretariat. She emphasized that eliminating tuberculosis (TB) requires not only government initiatives but also active participation from society.
Addressing the workshop, the Chief Minister called upon public representatives to encourage more people in their respective constituencies to become Ni-kshay Mitras, a community-led initiative that supports TB patients by providing nutritional assistance, emotional support, and dignity throughout their treatment.
Rekha Gupta said that the initiative has already gained significant momentum in the national capital. More than 3,300 Ni-kshay Mitras have joined the campaign in Delhi, helping distribute over 1.2 lakh nutritional food kits to TB patients, reflecting the success of the public participation model.
She stressed that timely diagnosis, complete treatment, and community involvement are the key pillars in eliminating tuberculosis. Urging citizens to actively contribute to the campaign, she appealed for collective efforts to build a TB-Free Delhi and ultimately a TB-Free India.
The Chief Minister further said that achieving the Prime Minister’s vision of a TB-Free India would require coordinated efforts by the government, elected representatives, healthcare workers, civil society organizations, and citizens alike. She added that only through sustained public participation and awareness can the country successfully eliminate tuberculosis and ensure better health outcomes for all.
