Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir Turns Gurugram Krishna-Mayi; Devotees Dance to Bhajans and Kirtans
New Delhi: Sri Krishna Janmashtami was celebrated with devotion and great enthusiasm by Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir at The Nikunj Princess Hall in Gurugram. The celebrations featured devotional bhajans and kirtans, enactments of Krishna Leela, vibrant tableaux and a special Mahabhishek, immersing devotees in an atmosphere of spiritual joy.
The venue reverberated with chants of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra — “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna Hare Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama, Rama Rama Hare Hare” — along with devotional chants such as “Nand Ke Anand Bhayo,” “Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki” and “Hathi Ghoda Palki, Jai Kanhaiya Lal Ki.”
The celebrations began with a special abhishek of Laddu Gopal. Devotees also had the opportunity to swing Radha-Krishna on a beautifully decorated jhula and seek Their blessings.
During the special Mahabhishek, the Deities were bathed with Panchamrit, fruit water, scented water, and preparations made from medicinal herbs and Ayurvedic ingredients. This was followed by the application of a turmeric paste and aarti. The ceremony included a 108-kalash Shuddhodak Abhishek, followed by nine special kalash abhisheks and, finally, a Pushpabhishek. After the abhishek, the Deities were dressed in new outfits and offered Mahabhog.
Devotees Dance to Krishna Bhajans
The Janmashtami celebrations featured devotional performances by the Dhruv Sharma-Swarnashree bhajan group, which presented bhajans glorifying the pastimes of Lord Krishna. Devotees were seen dancing and singing along during the performances.
Gaudiya kirtans and the chanting of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra further filled the venue with spiritual energy and enthusiasm. Temple volunteers also presented devotional Krishna bhajans, while devotees enthusiastically joined in the chanting and raised slogans glorifying Lord Krishna.
Glimpse of Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir Showcased
During the programme, a video presentation offered devotees a glimpse into the ongoing construction of Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir in Vrindavan and highlighted the progress of the ambitious project.
Vrindavan Chandrodaya Mandir is being developed as a grand temple dedicated to Lord Krishna in Vrindavan. The proposed temple will be 210 metres high with 70 floors. The first South Wing has already been completed, and the Deities of Radha and Krishna have been installed in the first block. The temple was envisioned by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
Meanwhile, the Sri Hare Krishna Mandir being developed in Sector 43, Gurugram, will stand 108 feet tall and is being constructed across 50,000 square yards. Being developed by the Hare Krishna Movement Gurugram, the temple is envisioned not only as a spiritual centre but also as a centre of food distribution for those in need. Arrangements are being made to provide meals to thousands of people every day.
Message of Krishna Consciousness Through the Hare Krishna Mahamantra
On the occasion, temple President His Grace Chanchalapati Prabhu delivered a spiritual discourse. He said that Lord Sri Krishna has a role behind every event in our lives. He emphasised that chanting and congregational singing of the Hare Krishna Mahamantra are among the most important means of awakening and sustaining Krishna consciousness.
He further said that regular chanting of the Mahamantra helps cultivate divine qualities in an individual and brings spiritual awareness into one’s life.
Following the discourse, the guests were felicitated. The celebrations concluded with a grand aarti, during which the Deities were offered incense, lamps, arghya, garments, flowers, chamara and various preparations.
Palki Yatra Witnesses Flower Shower
The celebrations concluded with a grand Palki Yatra carrying the Deities. Devotees enthusiastically participated in the procession, dancing and singing devotional songs while showering flowers upon the Lord.
The Palki Yatra transformed the surroundings into an atmosphere of Krishna bhakti, with devotees expressing their joy and devotion throughout the procession. The Janmashtami celebrations witnessed enthusiastic participation and reflected the deep spiritual fervour of the devotees.
