Arvind Kejriwal vacates CM residence in Delhi, moves to new bungalow with family
New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal vacated his 6, Flagstaff Road residence on Friday to move to his new address in the Lutyens’ zone. The former Chief Minister of Delhi and National Convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was seen leaving the house with his wife and son in a car, while his parents and daughter moved separately. Mini trucks were seen entering the residence early in the morning to assist with the move.
Kejriwal, who resigned from the Delhi Chief Minister’s post last month, will now reside at the official residence of Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Mittal near Mandi House on Ferozeshah Road, close to AAP headquarters on Ravishankar Shukla Lane.
In a video message, AAP MP Ashok Mittal expressed happiness that Kejriwal chose his house. He said, “When Kejriwal resigned as CM, I heard that he had no place to stay… I invited him to be my guest at my Delhi residence, and I am glad he accepted my request.” Party leaders mentioned that while residing in the New Delhi area, which is also his constituency, Kejriwal will oversee AAP’s campaign for the upcoming elections in Delhi and other states.
On Thursday, former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia also moved into a bungalow on Rajendra Prasad Road, the official residence of AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Harbhajan Singh. After deciding to vacate the 6, Flagstaff Road house in North Delhi, where Kejriwal had been residing since 2015 as Chief Minister, many party leaders, including MPs, MLAs, and councilors, had offered their homes to him. Kejriwal’s new residence, where he will live with his family, is close to the AAP headquarters on Ravishankar Shukla Lane.
