Protesters Holding Illegal Demonstration Against Wave City
Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): The ongoing protests in Wave City, a hi-tech township under development in the city, demanding compensation, are causing significant trouble for local residents and obstructing development work. Despite this, the protesters continue their demonstrations, even defying court orders, while the Bharatiya Kisan Sangathan (BKS) has clearly labeled the protest as illegal.
A few individuals, forming so-called farmer organizations, are repeatedly staging demonstrations demanding compensation. However, the Wave City management has clarified that all the terms agreed upon during negotiations have been fulfilled. A written agreement to this effect was signed in May 2014 between farmer organizations and the Wave City management, in the presence of district administration officials.
The Bharatiya Kisan Sangathan has repeatedly stated that the protest being held in Wave City is illegal. A few days ago, Lokesh Nagar, the District President of BKS Ghaziabad and In-Charge of the Meerut Division, wrote a letter stating that the ongoing protest is being carried out by external leaders and is not supported by the actual stakeholders.
According to the letter, the company has complied with the terms of the October 20, 2024 agreement with local residents. Registrations are ongoing, and development work is being executed as per the agreement.
The letter further mentions that some individuals are demanding plots in exchange for land that was sold at higher prices, which has no relevance to the 2014 agreement. The same group of people was part of the original agreement at that time as well. The BKS reiterates that it fully supports the October 21, 2024 agreement, which bears the signatures of around 250 farmers from the region, and it opposes the ongoing protest.
It is important to note that, in recent times, some so-called external leaders are staging protests in the name of farmers, intimidating people in Wave City, and blocking roads forcefully. This not only creates difficulties for residents but is also hindering the ongoing development in the area.
