Nationwide ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ to Launch from May 29

New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, announced the launch of the nationwide ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ starting May 29, 2025, aimed at transforming Indian agriculture. Speaking at a press conference, he emphasized that a developed India requires developed agriculture and prosperous farmers. Agriculture remains the backbone of India’s economy and the foundation of food security.

Under this initiative, 2,170 expert teams comprising ICAR scientists, state officials, agri-university professionals, FPOs, and progressive farmers will visit over 65,000 villages across 723 districts from May 29 to June 12. These teams will directly interact with over 1.3 crore farmers, discussing soil health, seed selection, optimal use of fertilizers, crop diversification, and natural farming practices. The effort aims to bridge the gap between research labs and farms.

Chouhan highlighted record food grain production figures and stressed demand-driven research to address farmers’ real challenges. This campaign will align efforts of ICAR’s 113 institutes and 731 Krishi Vigyan Kendras. It will be conducted annually before Kharif and Rabi sowing seasons, with the vision to make India a global food leader while reducing input costs and increasing farm incomes.
