Unruly Elements Pressurising Builder in India’s Most Hi-Tech City in the Name of Compensation
Ghaziabad (UP): In what is touted as India’s most high-tech city in the making, Wave City’s development work is being obstructed by disruptive elements. These individuals are allegedly misusing the name of farmers’ organisations to exert pressure on the builder through various means. This is despite a prior agreement between the farmers’ groups and the Wave City administration, which had normalised the situation.
Local residents reported that these frequent protests have not only caused inconvenience in commuting but also brought development activities within Wave City to a standstill. According to them, the protestors are not genuine farmers but outsiders posing as such, demanding additional compensation under false pretences.
The Bharatiya Kisan Sangathan (Indian Farmers Organisation) has also issued a letter to the district administration, stating clearly that these protests are illegal and not supported by the actual farming community.
It is noteworthy that demonstrations continue to occur near Wave City under the guise of farmer agitation. However, actual local farmers have no involvement. Instead, external elements have been inciting unrest, luring locals with promises of higher compensation from the builder.
The district administration, the farmers’ organisation, and Wave City management have clarified that development work is being carried out strictly as per the agreement signed in May 2014. All farmers whose land was acquired have already received due compensation and alternative plots. Despite this, demands for increased compensation and land allocation continue to surface, which officials have deemed completely unlawful.
Meanwhile, Wave City authorities have stated that all promised development commitments are being fulfilled diligently.
