Blast Near Red Fort Metro Station in Delhi: 8 Dead, Several Injured

New Delhi: A major explosion rocked the national capital on Monday evening near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The blast occurred in a parked car, damaging several nearby vehicles and creating panic in the area. According to ANI, three to four vehicles caught fire after the explosion, causing extensive damage.
The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) reported that they received information about the explosion around 6:55 PM, following which seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was brought under control shortly after. The impact of the explosion was so strong that the windows of nearby vehicles were shattered and car parts were scattered across the road.
Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha stated, “At around 6:52 PM, a car stopped at a red light when it suddenly exploded. Nearby vehicles were also damaged. All investigative agencies — FSL, NIA, and police — are present at the site. Some people have died, and several have been injured. The situation is being closely monitored.”
Following the blast, forensic teams, the Delhi Police Crime Branch, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) began probing the incident. The Union Home Minister has also been briefed and is monitoring the situation.
Sources confirmed that eight people have died so far, and several others were injured. The injured have been admitted to LNJP Hospital for treatment. The area was crowded at the time of the incident, leading to chaos and panic.
The Delhi Police have sealed the entire area and are investigating all possible angles to determine whether the explosion was accidental or an act of sabotage. Senior police officials remain on-site collecting forensic evidence.
