AAP MLA Sanjeev Jha gives Burari residents false hopes, main road still unfinished after a year
New Delhi: Broken roads, dug-up drains, scattered sewer lines, and disorganized contractor materials at almost every corner—this has become the identity of Burari’s Sant Nagar Main 100 Feet Road for over a year now. Whether morning or evening, from children to the elderly, everyone is struggling with the persistent traffic jams in the area.
It’s been nearly two years since the road and lanes were dug up in the name of sewer construction. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sanjeev Jha had promised that the work would be completed soon. As the problems worsened, he repeatedly gave new deadlines on social media. However, the situation remains the same.
With Diwali and Chhath approaching, and assembly elections just a few months away, the AAP MLA seems concerned about securing votes from the Purvanchali community. Recently, in a video shared on social media, he stated that he would try to ensure the main road is completed by Chhath.
#burari pic.twitter.com/2lZSArJ225

In a bizarre move, posters congratulating MLA Sanjeev Jha have already been put up on poles and walls around the main road by Shravan Jha, the representative from the Public Works Department (PWD), despite no visible progress on the road.
Local residents are frustrated. They face daily difficulties simply stepping out of their homes. Sanjay Gandhi, a resident of Cross Road Sant Nagar, said, “It’s been more than a year now. Every time MLA Sanjeev Jha appears on social media, he gives a new deadline, but no work gets done. How can we believe that it will happen this time?”
Residents also pointed out that there are barely 15 days left before Chhath, and with hardly any work happening on the ground, it’s clear that the new deadline given by Sanjeev Jha is just another false promise.
