Consul General Meets Indian Civil Aviation Experts Ahead of 10th Low Cost Air Carriers Summit in Shanghai

New Delhi : Consul General of India in Shanghai, Shri Pratik Mathur, met with prominent Indian civil aviation experts Shri Kamal Hingorani, Chief Customer Officer of SpiceJet, and Prof. Sandeep Bahl on 20 May 2026 in Shanghai. The discussions focused on recent developments in the aviation sector across Asia, opportunities for regional cooperation, and India’s expanding role in global civil aviation.

The Consul General conveyed his best wishes to the participants for the forthcoming 10th Low Cost Air Carriers Summit (LCC Summit) scheduled to be held in Shanghai on 21–22 May 2026. The Summit is expected to bring together aviation industry leaders, airline executives, policymakers, airport operators, aircraft manufacturers, leasing firms, logistics providers, and experts from across the Asia-Pacific region to deliberate on emerging trends and opportunities in the low-cost aviation ecosystem.

During the interaction, the Consul General emphasized that India’s aviation sector has undergone a significant transformation in recent years, driven by rapid expansion in regional connectivity, infrastructure modernization, fleet growth, digitalization, and policy reforms. He highlighted that India today represents one of the fastest-growing aviation markets globally and reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening strategic regional partnerships that can leverage the country’s immense market potential and growing connectivity demands.

The visiting delegation also briefed the Consulate on evolving trends in aviation management, air transport innovation, industrial capabilities, and academic collaborations in the sector. Discussions further touched upon opportunities for knowledge exchange, skill development, aviation training, airport modernization, and enhanced industry-to-industry cooperation between stakeholders in India and the region.
