Consulate General of India, Shanghai observes World Environment Day with green initiative and Seva Ravivaar.

Shanghai (China) : The Consulate General of India in Shanghai observed World Environment Day with a special green initiative organized under the themes of ‘Seva Ravivaar’ and ‘Green Office, Healthy Office’. Consul General Shri Pratik Mathur hosted the event at the Consulate, bringing together members of the Indian diaspora and the local Chinese community.
With International Children’s Day having been observed earlier in the week on June 1, the Consul General highlighted that this child-led community initiative was designed to bring together future generations from both communities, along with their parents and teachers. As a symbol of shared responsibility and growing friendship, each child dedicated a plant, strengthening the bonds of mutual understanding between the two cultures.
Underscoring the philosophy behind the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign — which has evolved into a global movement for positive change — Consul General Shri Pratik Mathur stressed the importance of adopting eco-friendly practices in everyday life. He called upon youth and students to become agents of change in ensuring a greener planet, and to work together on a Global South-led sustainable development path grounded in partnership and the spirit of Jan Bhaagidaari (people’s participation).
The event reaffirmed the Consulate’s enduring commitment to environmental stewardship and people-to-people ties, highlighting the vital role of community participation in building a sustainable and harmonious future.
