CPC Becomes Active Again to Unite Nepal’s Leftist Parties
Kathmandu: The Communist Party of China (CPC), known for openly intervening in Nepal’s internal politics, has once again become active in its efforts to unify Nepal’s leftist parties. Every month, a Chinese delegation visits Nepal, meeting with various leftist parties with the sole agenda of bringing all leftist factions under one umbrella.
Today, a CPC delegation arrived in Kathmandu and is busy meeting with top leaders of Nepal’s leftist parties. The five-member delegation, led by CPC Central Committee member and Secretary of Chinhang Province, Chen Kang, met with former Prime Minister and Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) today. A meeting with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled for tomorrow, Sunday. The delegation is also expected to meet other leftist leaders at a dinner party tonight.
During the meeting with Prachanda, the Chinese delegation emphasized Beijing’s support for the unity of Nepal’s leftist factions and stated that their visit aimed to convey this message. Senior leaders of the Maoist party were also present during the discussion. Maoist party Vice Chairman Narayan Kaji Shrestha noted that the CPC’s intention and goodwill are directed towards uniting Nepal’s leftists. The CPC delegation has prioritized achieving unity among all communist parties as soon as possible.
Shrestha mentioned that Prachanda assured the CPC leaders that he has always been in favor of leftist unity and has been continuously working towards it. Prachanda also informed the Chinese delegation that the unification of all factions that had split from the Maoist party is imminent. In the second phase, talks with other leftist parties are ongoing, and they are in the final stages.
