ED Questions Businessman Robert Vadra in Gurugram Land Deal Case
New Delhi : The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday questioned businessman Robert Vadra in connection with a money laundering case related to a land deal in Gurugram, Haryana. However, Vadra termed the ED summons as an act of political vendetta.
According to official sources, the ED had summoned Robert Vadra — husband of senior Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra — for questioning regarding a money laundering investigation linked to land in Shikohpur village, Gurugram. The case involves land purchased by a company owned by Vadra.
In response to the fresh summons, Robert Vadra appeared before the central agency on Tuesday morning, walking nearly two kilometers to the ED office.
Speaking to the media before entering the ED office, Vadra said the summons were politically motivated. “I have already spent hours cooperating with the ED, shared thousands of pages of documents, yet the agency keeps reopening cases against me,” he stated. “Whenever I speak on national issues, criticize government policies, or express intent to enter politics, old files are dug up to stop me. But I will not be intimidated. The people stand with me.”
Earlier, the ED had issued a summons to Vadra on April 8 regarding the same Shikohpur land deal case, but he did not appear. He was called again for questioning as the agency continues its probe into alleged financial irregularities linked to his firm, Skylight Hospitality. The federal agency has also questioned Vadra in a separate money laundering case in the past.
