IMD Issues Yellow Alert: Heavy Rain Brings Relief from Heat and Humidity Across Delhi-NCR
New Delhi: Heavy rainfall lashed Delhi-NCR on Tuesday, bringing a significant change in the weather and providing much-needed relief from the intense heat and humidity that had gripped the region over the past several days. Delhi, Noida, and several nearby areas witnessed heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, leading to a noticeable drop in temperature and creating pleasant weather conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued a Yellow Alert for the national capital, forecasting light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds. The weather department also advised residents to remain alert to rapidly changing weather conditions and to check the latest forecasts before planning their travel.
According to the IMD, rainfall activity is expected to continue across Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and Chandigarh from July 7 to July 11. The department has predicted relatively heavier rainfall in some areas on July 7 and July 9.
The IMD has forecast Delhi’s maximum temperature to remain between 35°C and 37°C, while the minimum temperature is expected to range between 26°C and 28°C. The department stated that there is unlikely to be any significant change in the city’s maximum temperature over the next seven days.
The weather office further said that the minimum temperature is expected to remain nearly stable for the next two days, followed by a 1–2°C decline over the subsequent three days before rising slightly again.
Weather experts believe that with the monsoon remaining active, Delhi-NCR is likely to continue experiencing relief from the heat in the coming days. However, residents have been advised to exercise caution during thunderstorms, lightning, and periods of strong winds.
